For small events, the "application form for obtaining authorisation to use private radio communications" is used.
For major events (Formula 1 Grand Prix, Tour de France …), BIPT sets up a specific structure with a view to optimal frequency management.
Specific forms are made available to participants and organisers. For large events where satellite connections are also used, the application form "large events" can be used. The legal framework is provided by the Electronic Communications Act of 13 June 2005 and the Royal Decree of 18 December 2009 on private radio communications and rights of use for fixed networks and trunked networks. For smaller events, it is best to use the application form to obtain an authorisation for the use of private radio communications.
Although it is recommended to submit applications as soon as possible, sometimes they cannot be processed until all applications have been submitted, because when assigning frequencies priority is given to organisers and competitors, whereas additional activities are handled afterwards.
The licence-exempt use of wireless microphones is allowed in the following frequency bands:
Frequencies (MHz) | Power | Comments |
---|---|---|
29,7 – 47,0 | 10 mW ERP | Specific frequencies cf. B10-01 |
202-209 | 50 mW ERP | |
518-526 | 50 mW ERP | |
534-542 | 50 mW ERP | |
823-826 | 20 mW EIRP (hand-held microphone) 100 mW EIRP (belt microphone) |
|
826-832 | 100 mW EIRP | |
863-865 | 10 mW EIRP | |
1785-1800 | 20 mW EIRP (hand-held microphone) 50 mW EIRP (belt microphone) |
ERP: effective radiated power, EIRP: effective isotropic radiated power: these powers are radiated by the antenna. A gain antenna must therefore be used by reducing the power of the transmitter.
The antenna being used must be certified by the manufacturer of the transmitter.
