Who is eligible for the social tariff?

Social tariff beneficiaries have to:

EITHER have reached 65 years of age AND

  • have a gross taxable income lower than 18.730,66 EUR + 3.467,55 EUR per additional person domiciled at the same address in function of the indexation of 01/09/2017 (this amount is regularly reviewed, as shown on the INAMI/RIZIV website);
  • live alone or live together with people of at least 60 years of age, or with their children or grandchildren, if the latter are orphans who have lost both of their parents or who are entrusted to their grandparents upon a court ruling;
NB the applicant may also live in a hotel, a rest home or any other form of community life if he/she has a subscription in his/her own name and for his/her exclusive use
  • not receive a social tariff yet and be the only beneficiary in their household.

 

OR have a handicap of at least 66% (according to a legal or administrative decision) AND

  • have reached 18 years of age;
  • have a gross taxable income lower than 18.730,66 EUR + 3.467,55 EUR per dependant based on the indexation of 1 September 2017 (this amount is regularly revised, as shown on the  INAMI/RIZIV website);
  • live alone or live together with two other persons at the most, or with blood relations or in-laws of the first or second degree (parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, parents in-law or children-in-law),
             NB the applicant may also live in a hotel, a rest home or any other form of community life if he/she has a subscription in his/her own name and for his/her exclusive use
  • not received a social tariff yet and be the only beneficiary in their household.

 

OR benefit from an integration income ("minimex") AND

  • have a subscription in his/her own name and for his/her exclusive use, if the applicant lives in a hotel, a rest home or any other form of community life;
  • not received a social tariff yet and be the only beneficiary in their household.

 

OR be hearing impaired (hearing loss of minimum 70 dB for the better ear) or live with their child or grandchild who is hearing impaired AND

  • not received a social tariff yet and be the only beneficiary in their household.

 

OR have undergone a laryngectomy or live with a child or grandchild having undergone a laryngectomy AND

  • not received a social tariff yet and be the only beneficiary in their household. 

 

OR be a military war blinded AND

  • benefit from no other social tariff and be the only beneficiary in their household.
 Only one social tariff beneficiary per household is allowed. The persons concerned have to choose the options and the operator that suit them best.
